New Line Cinema has officially making reboot for one of the most successful horror movie franchises, “Final Destination”.
The studio has already recruited “Saw” and “The Collector” duo, Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton to write the script.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the plot of the reboot “Final Destination” is still under wraps, but it describes the new installment as “a re-imagining of the franchise”.
“Final Destination” became one of the most successful horror movie franchises to date. The five films grossed nearly $700 million worldwide between 2000 and 2011. Unlike most horror franchises, the antagonist was Death as an unavoidable fate manifesting itself in a myriad of ways.
The first movie, “Final Destination” premiered in 2000, follows the story of high school student, Alex, played by Devon Sawa, saw a premonition and cheated death along with his few schoolmates. The sequels followed suit, each opening with a spectacular disaster set-piece and centering and following the character who manages to cheat death and save their friends thanks to a horrifying premonition.
There still no details information about the plot of the film, the director, the casts or the official release date.
