“The Conjuring 3” is finally happening! The director of the two previous films, James Wan, has confirmed the sequel.
James Wan also mentioned that he is not going to direct “The Conjuring 3”, instead, he’s passing the baton to Michael Chaves, who worked with Wan on next year’s “The Curse of La Llorona”. Not to worry, Wan will not leaving the Conjuring universe entirely, he will be a producer of “The Conjuring 3”.
In his recent interview while promoting his latest superhero film “Aquaman”, Wan also revealed some details about “The Conjuring 3”.
“It’s not necessarily based on an artifact but it’s based on one of the Warrens’ case files. All the Conjuring films are based on the case files, so they’re more based on the true story aspect of the real life Warrens. I think that’s important. It’s important that the mothership stays true to the inspiration of the real people. The spinoffs are where we get to have more fun and do weird and wonderful crazy things. The mothership of it being the Conjuring films, we want it to come back to the real stuff.”
So, based on his interview, its saved to say that “The Conjuring 3” will stay on the root, which will based on real-life case of Ed and Lorraine Warren.”The Conjuring 3”, rumors has it, will specifically be dealing with a very strange murder case involving a man who claimed to be possessed at the time of the crime.
“It’s this guy who was on trial for committing a murder. I think it’s the first time in America’s history where the defendant used possessions as a reason, as an excuse.”
Frankly, the new plot of “The Conjuring 3” is different than the previous two films, which more focused on traditional possession tale. But then again, Wan is not going to be the director of “The Conjuring 3”, so it’ll be fun to see the “The Conjuring 3” turns out be.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga is set to comeback to reprise their role as Ed and Lorraine Warren. And according to studio, “The Conjuring 3” is set to premiere in 2020.
