Denis Villeneuve continues to cast A-list actor to star in an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s “Dune”.
The new source reports that Villeneuve is in negotiation with Zendaya and Javier Bardem to take part in his project.
“Dune” is a sci-fi saga by Frank Herbert in 1965. Set in the distant future, the film chronicles Paul Atreides as his family battles for control of the harsh desert planet Arrakis, also known as Dune. The planet is the only source of a highly valuable drug which creates psychic abilities and is vital for space travel, making it the universe’s most valuable commodity. The story explores themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship with nature.
According to the source, Zendaya will play Chani, a strong young woman dan possible love interest of Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet), while Bardem reportedly plays Stilgar, the leader of a tribe who helps Paul in his quest to lead a rebellion to restore his family’s control of the desert planet Arrakis, the only producer of a rare and highly valuable drug.
Bardem and Zendaya will join the rest of the casts including Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard)and Charlotte Rampling. And according toVilleneuve, he stated that he expects “Dune” “will probably take two years to make” and that he intends to split it into “two films, maybe more”, but there is still no confirmation regarding to an official release date.
