Over a year, there are rumors surrounding Dark Universe’s films, saying that the Universal has abandoned the Dark Universe project due to the poor reviews and poor performance of their first entry of Dark Universe “The Mummy” starring mega actor Tom Cruise.
Now, the studio has proven that they’re not abandoned Dark Universe project by hiring actor, writer and director, Leigh Whannell to direct their new project “The Invisible Man”.
Source reports, that Universal will also collaborate Whannell’s company, Blumhouse Productions to create “The Invisible Man”.
Johnny Depp who was previously attached to the project now officially exit the project due to the unknown reason. However, according to the studio, he has the option to return for monster projects if they chose to do so, including the others actor who were attached to the project, Javier Bardem (Frankenstein), and Russell Crowe (Jekyll and Hyde).
Up until now, the studio hasn’t released the official synopsis or the official release date. But, by hiring Whannell doesn’t mean that “The Invisible Man” will head into production first, since the studio has met with the some of the of prominent directors for monster projects.
