Suicide Squad’s star, Margot Robbie has been casted as Barbie in the upcoming Barbie movie live-action.
In her recent interview with Variety, Robbie has confirmed that she’s not only play Barbie in “Barbie” movie, but she also will be the producer of the film.
“Playing with Barbie promotes confidence, curiosity and communication throughout a child’s journey to self-discovery. Over the brand’s almost 60 years, Barbie has empowered kids to imagine themselves in aspirational roles from a princess to president I’m so honored to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide. I can’t imagine better partners than Warner Bros. and Mattel to bring this film to the big screen.”
Actress and comedian, Amy Schumer was previously set to play the role of Barbie but forced to exit the project due to a scheduling conflict and the film was pushed back. Now that we have confirmation that Robbie on board, the film is expected to start the production.
“Barbie” movie film follows the story of a doll living in “Barbieland” is expelled for not being perfect enough and sets off on an adventure in the real world.
Alethea Jones is set to direct the movie. Olivia Milch will be the screenwriter. The movie is expected to premiere in 2020.
