Movie Review: “Anna and the Apocalypse” (2018)

I know it’s bit too late to write this since the movie came out…like one or two months ago, but I have to write this anyway.

“Anna and the Apocalypse” is a comedy horror musical film from UK, follows the story When the zombie apocalypse hits the sleepy town of Little Haven – at Christmas – teenager Anna and her high school friends have to fight, sing and dance to survive, with the undead horde all around them. Teaming up with her best friend John, Anna has to fight her way through zombified snowmen, Santas, elves and Christmas shoppers to get across town to the high school, where they’ll be safe. But they soon discover that being a teenager is just as difficult as staying alive, even at the end of the world.

I have to say “Anna and the Apocalypse” is a fun movie, it’s combine of horror, comedy, fantasy and musical, what’s not to like? Anyway, the star of the film of course the titular character, Ella Hunts who plays Anna in the movie, not only delivered great vocal, but she also great performance as Anna. The rest of the casts also ok, but not great as Ms. Hunt.

The  horror element, like zombie was oke, not as great as “Shaun of the Dead” but enough, although I expected more blood cause well…it’s zombie.

The comedy element, well…I have to say, that the comedy is the weakest in here, I mean I know I’m not from UK and I will never understand the jokes in there, but some of the jokes in this movie felt quite boring actually, the good thing about the jokes in this movie was with Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, oh…and also, Zombie Beyonce, Zombie Miley and Zombie Rihanna.

The ending, oh…I love the ending so much…I don’t know why, but I like Anna’s expressions toward the end of the film.

Overall, “Anna and the Apocalypse” brings so much fun, it’s a popcorn movie with the great acting, great performance and great singing. If you like comedy, horror, fantasy and musical combined, “Anna and the Apocalypse” is for you
