Movie Review: Robin Hood (2018)

“Robin Hood” is new film from Summit Entertainment, follows the story of A war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance.

Directed by Otto Bathurst, the casts including Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx, Ben Mendelsohn, Eve Hawson, Jamie Dornan, Paul Anderson, and Tim Minchin.

When the first time I saw the trailer of this film, I had such high hope that this movie might get Robin Hood the right story.

It’s a old story with the modern twist, I love these movies about medieval times and legends ad there is good source material to diversify the movies slightly every time they make one.

Throughout the movie I learned of overly diversifying the cast, portraying a quite “useless” character, especially Jamie’s Character.

The opening battle scene is packed with some of the best action I have seen all year. Then the plot spirals into a bunch of cliches.

The fight scenes are gritty and have a old school martial arts feel. Then there are times throughout the movie when it seems like present day, especially some of the costumes. It took me a minute to buy into the relationship between John and Robin. Robin and Marian lacked the chemistry the characters have had in other adaptations. It was puzzling to me how Marian remained so pristine throughout the movie.

This film also lack of character development, bad sound editing, unrealistic CGI, humor that sounds so forced, and predictable ending.

Overall: I guess Robin Hood (2018) turned out to be huge disappointment on almost every level and it is just another failed cartoonish remake that nobody wanted.
