After teasing for year about his “Spawn” reboot, the director Todd McFarlane has officially announced that the movie will be R-rated.
Not only that, McFarlane also wants to make “Spawn” reboot become ‘dark’, ‘ugly’ and ‘gritty’.
In his recent interview, McFarlane explained that there will be no ‘joy’ in “Spawn” reboot.
“There’s gonna be no fun lines in it, and it’s just gonna be this dark, ugly two hours worth of movie, which is essentially what a lot of supernatural/horror movies are anyway. There’s not a lot of funny in them. And that seems to be a weird hurdle for a lot of people in this city to get over because they sort of go into a superhero/Avengers default all the time.”
It’s very interesting to see “Spawn” reboot being into dark tone like Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” trilogy, since now superhero movies filled with fun things like Marvel.
Todd McFarlane himself will direct the “Spawn” reboot and Jamie Foxx has already confirmed to take the main role as Spawn. McFarlane also bring Jeremy Renner onboard to play Twitch Williams.
There is still no official release date yet for “Spawn”, but according to McFarlane, “Spawn” will begin the production in June 2019.
