“Star Trek 4” is facing an uncertain faith. Paramount Pictures has reportedly shelved “Star Trek 4” entirely for the time being.
This reveal comes as S.J Clarkson, who was previously attached to the project as director, has moved on to direct the pilot of “Game of Thrones” prequel series.
There are several reasons why Paramount may have decided to shelve the project. First off, Chris Pine and Chris Hamsworth, both of them refuse to go back to the project and reprise their role as Capt. James T. Kirk and George Kirk due to the conflict in payment.
Plus, the last installment of “Star Trek” franchise, “Star Trek: Beyond” performed not so well at the box office. Grossing only $343 million under the budget of $180 million, despite many positive reviews, the film still didn’t bring much money to the studio.
Its really is unfortunate news if the studio really going to kill “Star Trek” project, because this franchise has huge fan base and offer such a great premise.
